Wanita MCA to campaign for BN candidate in Mahkota by-election

At a press conference at Wisma MCA this afternoon, Datuk Wong You Fong, Chairperson of MCA's women’s wing, highlighted that Wanita MCA’s efforts in campaigning for the BN candidate in the upcoming Mahkota by-election.

Wanita MCA will campaign for the BN candidate as announced by the MCA President during the Johor MCA State Convention 2024. Datuk Wong also conveyed that Wanita MCA has begun its campaign works.

Introducing Wanita MCA National Deputy Chairperson Sdri Tee Hooi Ling, who will head the Election Preparatory Committee for the by-election, Datuk Wong emphasised that Wanita MCA’s confidence in BN’s performance and readiness to support UMNO, reflects their 60-year strong relationship under the BN banner.

”Remarkable Women Frontiers of the Future”* : Activities commemorating Wanita MCA’s 50^th anniversary to be launched at Wanita MCA AGM on 19 Oct

On the Wanita MCA Annual General Assembly (AGM) scheduled to be held in Wisma MCA on October 19 (Saturday), Datuk Wong informed that on the evening before on October 18, a Gala Dinner will be hosted where the attendance of leaders and delegates from across the country is expected.

She added that Wanita MCA will also celebrate the wing’s 50th Anniversary next year whereby 9 main interesting events to commemorate the struggles and history of Wanita MCA over the past half-century have been planned, themed ”Remarkable Women Frontiers of the Future”. They are:

1) Semi-Century Gala Dinner

A grand opening ceremony and dinner will be held, with representatives from each state performing to display their talents and charm.

2) Semi-Century Talent Exchange

Talent performances will be held locally, with the best performances selected for the gala dinner.

3) Semi-Century Special Edition Magazine

A bilingual magazine documenting the achievements over the last five decades while honouring 50 outstanding women will be published.

4) Semi-Century Discourses & Forums

Seminars on various current affairs, including politics, economics, culture, and education, will be held across the country to enable local communities to gain knowledge and assistance.

5) Semi-Century Charity Bazaar

Charity sales will be organised in each state to support the anniversary celebrations and other activities.

6) Semi-Century Souvenirs

Various attractive collectibles, including T-shirts, bags, aromatherapy products, and crafts, will be introduced.

7) Semi-Century Teabreak Sessions

Teabreak sessions with veterans and active members of Wanita MCA will be held in each state to reconnect, strengthen fellowship and unity among members.

8) Semi-Century Talent Pool Programme

This is one of the important missions of Wanita MCA whereby Wanita MCA leaders will visit each Division to engage with young adult women and foster their participation in politics to empower women in politics.

9) Semi-Century Health Checks

Free health screenings will be organised in collaboration with the Crisis Relief Squad of MCA (CRSM) and local government health organisations or hospitals to promote public health.

These activities will commence after this year’s Wanita MCA AGM, aiming to enhance women's roles and influence in families, communities, and the nation.

Wanita MCA invites all, including non-members, to join in celebrating this momentous milestone. The achievements of Wanita MCA over the past fifty years are collective efforts by many. It is hoped that ongoing efforts will continue to enhance unity and progress for a brighter future.

As an acorn blooms into a mighty maple tree, we honour the sacrifices of women, brimming with hopes and aspirations for the nation and gender empowerment.
